Goalkeeping Coach: John-David (JD) Murphy, comes to TN United after completing a successful playing career as the goalkeeper at Lipscomb University.  He is a Canadian native moving up the ranks from the Ontario Youth Soccer League to become a member of the U-18 national team pool for his country.  He trained with Bury F.C. in England before returning to pursue a degree in business management and marketing.  JD has been an assistant, goalkeeper and head coach at the youth level for the Ajax United and Whitby Iroquois clubs in Canada as well as a season as the middle school coach at Good Pasture.  JD holds a USSF "C" License.  JD will be coaching the 93 girls white team and the 97 girls red team.

Goalkeeping Coach:  Kevin Burk, is a former professional player and current assistant coach for the men's NCAA Division I program at Lipscomb University where he was instrumental in helping Lipscomb earn a Top 10 Div. I Most Improved Team in 2006.  Burk is a 2001 graduate of Belmont Abbey College, a prominent Division II soccer program located in Belmont, N.C. While at the Abbey, Burk captained the team for three seasons and in the process earned Team MVP in 2000, All-Tournament Team in 2001 and 1st- Team All Conference honors from 1999-2001. In 2001 Burk was the first Abbey player to earn 1st-Team All South Region honors.   As a professional Burk has played in more than 100 games as a midfielder and forward earning numerous Player-of-the-Week honors.  Burk played outdoors in the USL for the Carolina Dynamo, Greenville Lions, and Milwaukee Wave United.  After an expansion draft in 2004, Burk was acquired from the Harrisburg Heat and chosen in the first round by Milwaukee Wave and two seasons later was a part of winning the MISL league.  Burk has been coaching club soccer for 9 years with various boys and girls teams.  Burk holds a USSF National “B” Coaching License as well as a NSCAA Regional Goalkeeping Diploma.  Burk has been a frequent guest speaker at banquets, schools, organizations and soccer clubs on the dangers of drugs and alcohol.  Burk also has partnered with local area schools in the Reading for a Goal program.


Goalkeeping Coach:  Chris Thurman,
played his high school soccer at Gallatin High School before moving on and becoming a 4-year starter for Tenn. Wesleyan College.  He also had spells with the Knoxville Impact and TN Rhythm before beginning his coaching career.  Chris has been an assistant coach for both the men and women at Tenn. Wesleyan, and the keeper coach at Beech high school and currently, Station Camp High School Girls Head Coach.  He is the director of the goalkeeping camp at Maryville College and completed his national goalkeeping license in Ft. Lauderdale in January 2005.
